Iranians at Stanford, in one place.
Stanford has a student association, an academic program, language courses and hundreds of Iranians across every school. Until now there was no single door. This page is it.
Groups and programs
Each of these is run by its own people. We link to them, we show up to their events, and we hope they show up to ours.
-
Student organization
Persian Student Association
Stanford’s non-political Persian cultural club, founded in 1993. Nowruz, Yalda, film nights, tabling at White Plaza, and the home of this series.
-
Academic program
Hamid and Christina Moghadam Program in Iranian Studies
Stanford’s home for the study of Iran: courses, visiting scholars, and a public lecture calendar worth following.
-
Language
Persian at the Stanford Language Center
First-, second- and third-year Modern Persian (the PERSLANG sequence), which also satisfies the University foreign-language requirement.

Your group
Missing a group?
Graduate circles, departmental groups, alumni chapters, a weekly backgammon table. If Iranians gather there, it belongs here.
Four ways to find your people this quarter.
Join the mailing list
One email per conversation, one reminder. It is also how we announce tea afternoons and co-hosted events.
Come to a PSA event
Nowruz in March and Shab-e Yalda in December are the big ones. Film nights and tabling happen in between. Everyone is welcome, Persian speaker or not.
Graduate students and postdocs
A graduate circle is forming around the series: a co-moderator seat at every conversation and a tea afternoon each quarter. Tell us you are interested.
Volunteer for an evening
Registration desk, room setup, photographs, the tea table. Two hours, a front-row seat, and the leftover shirini.
